Usually, a thermostat lasts for between 10 and 15 years. Yet, this longevity can be influenced by several factors, including type and brand, maintenance, and the technological advances associated with newer models. On the whole, "thermostat life," as it were, is punctuated by a handful of likely death scenarios. Among them are just plain wearing out after doing their jobs for over a decade; not regulating temperature accurately due to dirt, poor battery power, or just plain age; and technological obsolescence, where the features and efficiency of newer models mandate replacement of the old, still-functioning unit.
