Summerlin, in the western part of the Las Vegas Valley, is at a higher elevation and is, therefore, slightly cooler than central Las Vegas. The temperature difference is only a few degrees, but that's enough for a "more comfortable" climate in the summer, according to residents.

Owing to its higher elevation and closeness to the Spring Mountains, Summerlin South tends to be a bit cooler and less windy than most of the rest of Las Vegas.
