The realistic combat training exercises at Nellis Air Force Base, dubbed Red Flag, pit the United States and its allied air, space, and cyberspace forces against one another. They offer a venue for experiencing near-modern combat conditions in a controlled setting. Eliminate the adversary so that the airspace can be used—adequately, effectively, and safely; that’s the mandate. The reason I’m engaging in this digression is because Winter Emergency Heating Service, under no immediate pressure to deliver, is engaged in relearning how to do heating service better. We’re not Nellis, but we have our own airspace that we need to make safe for operations, day or night.
